From the producer:
Cristina BanBan (b. 1987, El Prat, Spain) lives and works in Brooklyn. She transforms large-scale canvases into vibrant realms, filling them with voluptuous feminine figures that echo 18th-century neoclassical painting. Influenced by anime and expressionism, BanBan challenges conventional figurative representation, manipulating perspectives to emphasize the monumental presence of her characters in seemingly too-small 'spaces.' Often autobiographical, her works are a marriage of personal experiences and pop culture, radiating drama from everyday scenes. The honesty of her depictions, often featuring herself, creates a tender and intimate atmosphere, bathed in a colour palette typically rich in pink hues.
